Composer and instrumentalist Anthony Braxton is considered one of the most important educators and creative thinkers of our time. In the late 1960s, he ranked alongside such exceptional improvisers as John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman and Albert Ayler, as well as composers such as Charles Ives, Harry Partch and John Cage.
Adored by some and rejected by others, Wolf Eyes, with their typical self-irony, declare themselves the scariest and weirdest band in the world. Formed in Detroit in 1996, they have been relentlessly producing inimitable punk-inflected proto-electronic music full of aggression and drone surfaces ever since. They’ve been invited as guests on several Sonic Youth tours, and released a collaborative album with Anthony Braxton, Black Vomit.
