| DUNDZINGARAV The ensemble Dundzingarav was founded in 1993 by singer Shagdaryn Dasha. It has performed in China, India, Germany, France, Belgium, England, the USA, Poland and the Czech Republic. Most of the more than two million inhabitants of Mongolia (who inhabit an area twenty times the size of the Czech Republic) remain nomads to this day. Their music reflects the freedom and strength of a simple, natural way of life. Mongolians are masters of khoomei throat-singing, in which secondary "aliquot" tones are produced along with the basic melody. The music of Dundzingarav can be compared to that of the Tuvan group Huun-Huur-Tu, who have already performed several times in the Czech Republic. |
