KROKE

Kroke is the Yiddish name for Kraków, the Polish city where this klezmer trio was founded in 1992. Since that time, Kroke has gone on to become one of the most highly acclaimed groups performing this style of traditional Jewish music. The trio has played in large concert halls and at festivals all over Europe, appearing alongside such famous artists and ensembles as Ravi Shankar, Natacha Atlas, Bustan Abraham, Van Morrison and The Klezmatics.
Kroke takes the traditional klezmer repertoire as the basis for its own original arrangements and improvisations. Its members make use of their background in classical music and jazz to create an unusual, unique new sound in Jewish music. Their music may be understood as the quintessence of ancient Jewish culture, as well as living proof of an unbroken tradition.
