Over the thirty years of their existence, The Necks have built an international reputation as masters of their own musical language. They have collaborated with artists such as: Brian Eno, Swans, Evan Parker, Karl Hyde and several symphony orchestras. They toured Australia 6 years ago as the opening act for Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, and in 2019 they collaborated with Underworld on their new audio-visual series, as well as with Michael Gira on the new Swans album. After an extended, covid-enforced hiatus, they return to Prague with their new album Travel (2023).
They have been touring Europe for over 20 years. Every Necks’ performance is a singular event, entirely improvised and working with the acoustics of the room. Their minimalist, repetitive improvisation with piano, drums and bass sounds as if it comes from a single unknown instrument.
The Necks are:
Chris Abrahams – piano, Hammond organ
Tony Buck – drums, percussions, electric guitar
Lloyd Swanton – bass, double bass
