Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was established in 1971 by a small group of French doctors who had worked together during the Nigerian Civil War. Upon their return, they were determined to find a way to respond rapidly and effectively to public health emergencies, with complete independence from political, economic and religious influences.

It provides information about the activities, as well as the priority objectives of the organization, including specialized agencies and programs; has the role of representing the UN Secretariat in the Czech Republic; and builds partnerships with Government, state institutions, non-governmental organizations, schools, media and the private sector. As one of the first “branches” of the United Nations, UNIC Prague was founded in 1947.
