More than 15 years ago, three veterans of new and improvised music - VLADIMIR TARASOV - LARRY OCHS - MARK DRESSER - formed the Jones Jones trio: a coherent concept in which microscopic details enhance unfolding stories. The trio's first performance in 2006 kicked off years of sonic exploration by three brilliant musicians with an uncanny ability to listen and respond.
VLADIMIR TARASOV (drums) is an important figure of European new music, a composer, drummer and, last but not least, a visual artist. In 1971-1986 he was a member of the free-jazz trio GTČ alias Ganelin – Tarasov – Chekasin, which was the most progressive phenomenon on the Soviet music scene at the time and continues to inspire with its personality to this day. For many years he played with the Lithuanian Symphony Orchestra and other symphonic, chamber and jazz orchestras in Lithuania, Europe and the United States. In 2013, he performed with Alexei Ljubimov at the Moravský podzim Festival in Brno. He has recorded more than 100 albums and has written music for film and theatre. He has worked and collaborates with musicians such as Anthony Braxton, Butch Morris, Thomas Stanko, Gyorgy Szabados, Rova Saxophone Quartet and others. He is also an important visual artist, having worked closely with Ilya Kabakov, the founder of Moscow Conceptualism, for many years. He has participated in numerous solo and collective exhibitions around the world. His objects on the border between music and fine art were exhibited in 2007 by the Moravian Gallery Brno and in 2009 by the East Bohemian Gallery at the Chateau in Pardubice.

His main focus is on expanding the sonic and musical possibilities of the double bass through unconventional amplification. In 2001 he was nominated for a Grammy Award. He is a professor of music at the University of California, San Diego, and has lectured at Princeton University, New School University, and Hampshire College.
