Axel Dörner, Joe Williamson, Raymond Strid, Sture Ericson – The Electrics

Germany, Sweden, Canada | OM

The archetype of the ultimate acoustic improvisation

A unique and unpredictable combination of improvisation, free jazz and extensive sounds with sudden changes and multilayered sound structures. The Electrics concerts are always completely acoustic, i.e. without electricity... An adventure for open and inquisitive ears. The Electrics have been active since 2000 and will celebrate 25 years of existence with their Prague concert.

Axel Dörner (trumpet, slide trumpet) – one of the main contemporary representatives of trumpet playing. He has been active on the experimental scene for many years and has collaborated with many other notable musicians, such as Alexander von Schlippenbach, Paul Lovens, Phil Minton, etc. Last year we had a chance to see him together with Otomo Yoshihide, Martin Brandlmayr and Sachiko M (Rachot 2024, Punctum).

Sture Ericson (saxophone) – like Axel Dörner, works with extended technique, improvisation and free jazz. He is active in many musical formations and has collaborated with Pat Thomas, Derek Baiey, Otomo Yoshihide, Roger Turner, etc.

Joe Williamson (double bass) – one of the most sought-after double bassists in specialist circles, whether in London, Amsterdam, Berlin or Stockholm. He has worked with Tony Buck (The Necks), Martin Brandlmayer (Radian), Han Bennink, Tobias Delius, A. Baars and others.

Raymond Strid (drums) – a nestor of Swedish improvised music with a lot of international experience: we have heard him in various line-ups with Mats Gustafsson, Sten Sandell, Barry Guy, Marilyn Crispell and others.
