The bandmate of Brazil's biggest superstar Caetano Velosa is returning to Prague to present his new album Psychedelic Rio (2024) with his trio. The composer, guitarist, percussionist, drummer and singer Vinicius Cantuária is considered to be the successor of Tom Jobim and Caetano Velosa, in whose band he was a member. He is one of the most important figures of the new Brazilian music and absolutely fundamental for the expansion of the genre beyond the borders of Brazil. He often combines traditional bossa nova with electronics and contemporary jazz approaches. Since 1995 he has lived in New York City, where he has become a leading figure in the New York downtown jazz scene. He has collaborated with prominent jazz and avant-garde artists such as Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell, David Byrne, Laurie Anderson and Arto Lindsay. In Prague he will present a brand new project and the album of the same name Psychedelic Rio.
