Atine: Persiennes from Iran / Female quintet / Iranian classical music / Spirit of 19th century Persian poetry

Atine is a singular meeting of five accomplished musicians from Iran: the singer Aïda Nosrat, the tar player Sogol Mirzaei, the percussionist Saghar Khadem, from Palestine: the qanun player Christine Zayed and from France: the viola da Gamba player Marie-Suzanne de Loye, drawing on diverse yet resonating influences from Iranian, Arabic, flamenco, jazz and baroque music to create sparkling new arrangements of traditional Iranian songs and original compositions imbued with the spirit of 19th century Persian poetry.

The meeting of five musicians gave birth to a corpus of re-arranged Iranian songs, symbol of the heritage of their personal and rich trajectories, full of diversity: traditional Iranian, Arabic, flamenco, jazz and baroque music. The tar, the qanun, the voice, the viola da gamba and the percussions are united here to resonate the Persian poetry of the 19th century but also new compositions. Their first album has been released in the fall of 2020 on the Accords Croisés label.
