BRAND NEW ALBUM "CATCH MY SHOE" TOUR!
The first all-new full length Ex release since "Turn" (2004), and the first one with new singer Arnold de Boer.
Catch My Shoe, Recorded by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio, Chicago.
The EX, Dutch "experimental trance-dance avant-afro-punk improv" trio with a long history of cross-cultural projects (Konono No 1 from Congo, Getatchew Mekurya from Ethiopia) is coming back to Prague!
Formed in 1979, The Ex has developed over the years into a melting-pot of diverse musical styles: noise, rock, jazz, improvisation, and ethnic music have been interweaved under one unique umbrella: "Ex-music". Discordant, highly rhythmic guitars, the rolling, almost African drumming style, and the intense delivery of the often ironic lyrics give the music of The Ex its special character.
So far, in 30 years of thein career, The Ex has played more than 1370 concerts all over Europe, North America and Africa, and released over 20 albums. Never pigeon-holed into one of pop music's corny corners, The Ex is continuously in development, and always open for new ideas and collaborations with people of all kinds, people whose spirit inspires and appeals to the group. The main principle remains; to make music with heart and soul, out of reach of commercial trends or expectations. The consequent independent approach of the group and the manner in which they organize their concerts and release and distribute their records themselves, has set a significant example for the alternative music circuit.
It's 2011 now, and they're still going strong, and forward, in every possible direction.
As a Support Band to introduce Metamorphosis (CZ, TR, A).
The Czech-Austrian-Turkish quartet Metamorphosis is often compared to the 1970's rock avantgardists, Kronos Quartet or the British neo-classical pioneers Penguin Café Orchestra - but it is more accurate just to call them timeless. A string quartet by sound design, they mix acoustic and electric, minimalism, punkrock and Robert Fripp influences. With alchemist expertise, they blend guitar riffs with cello patterns and violin ostinatos. Allaboutjazz.com writes: "These folks have designed a signature style of their own”.
And for the Afterparty Andy (The Ex) prepared a very special DJ set as DJ Andy Ex! Will happen after main show at Small Hall in Palac Akropolis.
