Amsterdam is known for it's relaxed atmosphere, free-thinking musicians and migrant communities - and you find same qualities in local music. With Amsterdam Klezmer band, it's easy to tell the difference from related Jewish ensembles. They play with guts of street musicians and command of maestros, their tour-de-force concerts generate high voltage just with acoustic instruments. Not surprisingly they are only Western band to succeed with Balkan music in Turkey. Amsterdam Klezmer band are fronted by Odessa born Alec Kopyt, sometimes known as the "Ukrainian Tom Waits". (At Respect he also performs with his own band Poza.)
