Mahala Rai Banda

A new discovery by the same musical daredevils from Brussels who brought us Taraf de Haidouks 13 years ago and later the Macedonian brass band Kočani Orkestar. Their latest ensemble is even bigger and mightier. Mahala Rai Banda, the genuine "all stars band", includes players from the rural Gypsy villages and Bucharest ghettos, and combines virtuoso violin playing of lautari school, machine gun solos executed by master cymbalom players and bravado fanfare of wedding brassbands.
