There is a close link between digital rites of European dance clubs and trance practices from Morocco - no wonder the place became favourite destination for Jimi Hendrix and Rolling Stones. Five years ago 3 players from Marrakesh (members of Gnawa Halwa) came to Berlin, to rehearse with top ethno-dance musicians and producers. Finally they recorded Living remixes, fusing reggae, pop, dub and rock with Indian or Australian sounds. The live performance draws on the cyclical waves of the all night lila rituals. Translucent soundsacapes lead to hard and biting climax, guided by metal castanets qarqabas and bass-guitar-like sintir.
